Lublin, Poland – October 2, 2026 — The Medical University of Lublin welcomed its American Track medical students into the medical profession during a White Coat Ceremony held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Collegium Novum in Lublin, Poland.
The ceremony was hosted by the Rector of the University, Prof. Wojciech Zaluska, MD, PhD, and attended by university leadership, faculty members, students, and guests. Among those present was Ms. Ewa Burniak, Director General of the Medical University of Lublin; Mr. Julius Romero, Senior Advisor to MUL International.
The program opened with welcoming remarks by Karol Rawicz-Pruszyński, MD, PhD, Vice Dean of the Medical Faculty, followed by an address from Rector Prof. Wojciech Zaluska, who welcomed the students and spoke on the occasion of their White Coat Ceremony.
Jerry Jacob, MD, PhD, Assistant Dean of the School of Medicine, delivered an introduction explaining the history and meaning of the White Coat Ceremony. He spoke about what the white coat represents and the responsibilities that come with wearing it. He also reminded students that while the Hippocratic Oath is traditionally associated with graduation from medical school, the White Coat Ceremony provides an opportunity for students to make an early commitment to the values and responsibilities of the medical profession.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of white coats to the students. For many, receiving their first white coat was a memorable moment and a reminder of the years of study and training that lie ahead.
Following the presentation, Dr. Jerry Jacob administered the Medical Student Oath, during which the students pledged to approach their medical education with honesty, dedication, and respect for their teachers, colleagues, and future patients.
The program also featured presentations by physicians representing several areas of clinical medicine. Dr. Kamila Gralec from Pediatrics, Prof. Magda Skórzewska from Oncology, and Dr. Wojciech Czyżewski from Neurosurgery addressed the students, sharing perspectives from their respective specialties.
Representatives from Inngen Laboratory and Xenstats also gave presentations as part of the day’s program.
The ceremony concluded with closing remarks, followed by a lunch reception where students had an opportunity to spend time with faculty members, university officials, and fellow students.
The American Track at the Medical University of Lublin offers a six-year medical program in which students complete their first three years of basic medical sciences education in Poland before continuing their three years of clinical training in the United States. The program brings together students pursuing a medical education that prepares them for clinical practice, including those planning to pursue postgraduate medical training in the United States.
For the students, October 2 was more than simply receiving a white coat. It was their first formal introduction to a tradition that they will carry with them throughout their medical education and, eventually, into their careers as physicians.
The University extends its congratulations to all the students who received their white coats and wishes them continued success in their medical studies.
